A warm welcome from TrustWorki, where our mission is to foster innovation and successful business outcomes, by enabling joyful workplaces of high trust and Psychological Safety, which inspire greatness!

It starts with trust, both in name and within the core values pillars upon which we’ve built our initiatives, our strategy, and our higher vision.

Who we are

TrustWorki was founded by Michelle McDaid and Rebecca Molloy. Our collective experience as leaders extends beyond Technology, reaching into Financial Services, e-Commerce, Fashion, Retail and more. We are passionate about the transformative impact workplaces built with trust can have on unlocking the full potential of individual contributors, team performance, business outcomes and happy customers. At TrustWorki we believe your people are your competitive advantage.

What is Trust and why is it relevant?

Trust literature distinguishes trustworthiness (the ability, benevolence, and integrity of a trustee) and trust propensity (a dispositional willingness to rely on others) from trust (the intention to accept vulnerability to a trustee based on positive expectations of their actions). The scientific evidence backs up what we know to be true from our extensive experience successfully leading teams. Trust positively impacts team performance and business results. Compared with people at low-trust companies, people at high-trust companies report: 74% less stress, 106% more energy at work, 50% higher productivity, 13% fewer sick days, 76% more engagement, 29% more satisfaction with their lives, 40% less burnout! High-trust companies hold people accountable but without micromanaging them. They treat people like responsible adults.

The power of Trust is clear, but trusting blindly is not enough. Setting up teams for success is essential, which includes staffing the team well, providing the right tools and technology and setting a clear vision and strategy, along with being clear on expectations, and ensuring alignment.

Does Trust need to be earned?

Some leaders have the view that people need to earn trust. If you have hired great people, why not trust them to do the work you hired them for? It is rare that trust is not reciprocated. It is the Pygmalion Effect or self-fulfilling prophecy at play. With the right supports, skills and competencies, when trust is placed in people, they will generally perform to your expectations and higher!

Teams cannot innovate without Psychological Safety

Google’s Project Aristotle found that the biggest determinant of successful teams was Psychological Safety – the ability to speak up, ask questions, raise concerns or share ideas without the fear of negative consequences. Teams cannot innovate without Psychological Safety, as people will be afraid to take risks or share ideas. Psychological Safety and Trust go hand in hand.

If you consider the far-reaching impact of mistakes being made but covered up due to fear of consequences (Banks have been brought down, economies have crashed and in hospital settings people have died!), it makes sense that we create environments of Psychological Safety where people can speak up and know their people leader has their back and their colleagues are open to listening.

The Leaky Pipeline

Our lived experience as women in technology has given us many valuable insights and we are passionate about the transformative impact our business can have on the workplace, your business, people and customers. We have a proven track record in implementing positive change on Gender Representation and creating more inclusive workplaces where all can thrive.

· Women make up 57% of the overall workforce.

· Of the 27% that join the technology industry, more than 50% are likely to quit before the age of 35, and 56% are likely to quit by midcareer.

Technology is the future of the world. If you want to build great products that your customers will love, your workforce needs to represent the diversity of your customer base.

The time for change is now!

It has long since been proven that diverse teams achieve better results. Inclusive workplaces where people feel a sense of belonging, provide inspiration for innovation, engagement and business growth. Recent layoffs and uncertainty in the Tech Industry are already having a further detrimental impact on Gender Representation and are likely to have drastically reduced Trust and Psychological Safety, as well as a negative impact on workplace culture. Your people cannot do their best work if they are ‘keeping their head down’ and trying to stay out of the firing line – excuse the pun! EU Directives and Irish mandatory requirements further emphasise the importance of prioritising taking measures to address the Gender Pay Gap and to solve these challenges.

There has never been such an urgent need to act on the issues discussed here. We have the experience, passion and commitment to support you in this mission.
